Winchester M97 Trench gun

The Winchester Model 1897 is a pump action shotgun with an external hammer and tube magazine.  It was offered in 12 and 16 gauge, solid, frame, or takedown.  Numerous barrel lengths are offered.  It was the first sucessful pump-action shotgun.  Over 1,000,000 were made.  The were produced from 1897-1957.  The Trench Gun was used by the US Army, US Marine Corps, and the US Navy.  It is a bigger and tougher version of the Winchester 1893.  The Trench Gun was good in something that is pretty obvious.  It was used in Trench warfare to take out enemys at close range.  The only problem with the Trench Gun is that it has a lot of kick so only strong soldiers were able to operate it.
